Contest Giveaway – Welcome to Zabar’s Gift Box

Most of you know by now that I’ve partnered with Zabar’s, New York’s landmark gourmet superstore on the Upper West Side. I’m thrilled about being a part of the Zabar’s team, it is a truly special place with a fascinating history.

To celebrate, I am hosting a giveaway with Zabar’s this week. Check out this fun prize! (gotta love that world famous rugelach…)

Get a taste of Zabar’s with the Welcome to Zabar’s Gift Box. In the sweet Zabar’s keepsake box you’ll find a pound of Zabar’s Blend fresh roasted coffee (all purpose ground), Zabar’s own cinnamon rugelach, a Zabar’s coffee scoop, a Zabar’s mug, instructions on brewing the perfect cup, and a reusable canvas Zabar’s tote. All with love from NYC!

To win this fabulous prize, just comment on this post and let me know your favorite food item that Zabar’s sells (check the Zabars.com website if you need ideas). Your email address will be subscribed to the Zabars.com newsletter, which means you’ll receive their weekly emails with free recipes and special promotions. A winner will be chosen at random, and will be contacted via email. You can also “like” Zabar’s on Facebook and Twitter; just make sure you comment here directly on my blog (below) to be officially entered in the contest.

Contest starts today and ends on Friday at 5:00 PST. Please note that this prize can only be shipped within the US, and we cannot ship to P.O. boxes, A.P.O.s, or F.P.O.s. Winner will be notified via email and announced on my website as well as Zabar’s blog. Good luck!

P.S. I’ll be appearing live at Zabar’s later this month in a Rosh Hashanah cooking demonstration… details coming soon!

UPDATE: CONTEST CLOSED! The winner is Steve L., whose comment was chosen by a contest randomizer. Here’s the winning comment!

“If you have not tried the Benedetto Cavalieri pasta from Zabar’s, you have not tried real pasta! This stuff straight from Puglia, is pasta perfection. I go for the elbow shapes every time!”

Congratulations Steve! Check out this Zabar’s post about the contest, and stay tuned for more fun giveaways! Zabar’s Announcement

  1. Picking the favorite items is difficult…where to start:
    1) rugelach
    2) raisin pecan loaf
    3) little critters petit fours (for the kids of course, I have 3)
I subscribed to their e-mail and already got a promotion..woohoo!
This is a fantastic giveaway I do hope that I am the lucky girl!

  2. There’s too many foods to mention that are favorites. The cheeses are outstanding!

One of my favorite items is the Continental roast. I can’t remember having a better cup of coffee. I order whole bean and grind the beans myself. (I only wish they’d partner with Keurig so when I just want one cup quickly, I could pull out a K-Cup).

I’ve missed being able to go into the store, sample the foods, buy REAL NY food! I had been visiting the store since high school until I moved to Virginia in 1977.

    Looking forward to your newsletter.

  3. Definitely: bagels! This Native New York transplanted to the Pacific Northwest definitely couldn’t survive without frequent care packages from her old home. What’s sells as a bagel out here shouldn’t be used to scrub a sink!

  4. Omg I adore your site
Sahara has always been a favorite NY hotspot I love the bakery all the breads and especially upstairs in the housewares department you can always find something special
I want to win soooooo badly ,love the zabars coffee rugalech and just plain love winning!!!!!!!

  5. Definitely the belly lox.
AND my favorite Zabar’s story. I was probably about 10, approx ’79, in Zabar’s with my parents when I decided I wanted to touch one of the salamis that lined the deli counter at the time. Wel,l I was a little too vigorous in my attempt to reach the salami and BOOM! one fell right into a huge tray of rice pudding. Let’s just say none of the adults were too pleased!

  6. Smoked Nova, Whitefish, Whitefish salad, Sturgeon, Chubs – how I miss them since moving to NC – when I worked there I usually left at least half of my weekly pay in exchange for these delights -

  7. If you have not tried the Benedetto Cavalieri pasta from Zabar’s, you have not tried real pasta! This stuff straight from Puglia, is pasta perfection. I go for the elbow shapes every time!

  8. I haven’t had the good fortune to visit Zabar’s either, so winning this gift would be an amazing first and not to mention memorable!

  9. So funny, I just bought my first item from Zabars.com recently. A bunch of girls went to Cape Cod to our friend’s parents’ house, and we sent a gift basket from Zabars afterward. We sent “Don’t Be Homesick,” which has lox, salami, pastrami, mustard, cream cheese, rye, bagels, cookies, and rugelach. If someone delivered pastrami, mustard, abgels, and rugelach to me, I’d be a happy camper. Great giveaway Tori!

  10. My husband and I live on Long Island, but my son lives down the blog from Zabar’s. When we come in to the city for a visit, we always have dessert at his place, Zabar’s delicious coffee and baked goods.
When he comes home to visit us, he brings us Zabar’s yummy chopped liver! It reminds us of our old neighborhood’s deli, but our favorite food at Zabar’s is the HOMESTYLE BABKA! It’s not dry like other babka’s: it’s so moist and chocolatey. We just love it!

P.S. My absolute favorite thing about Zabar’s is that it is keeping my son well fed with home cooking -especially Chicken Soup when he’s not feeling well, and Mom can’t get to the Upper West Side to give him some!

  11. I have never been to Zabar’s, but just visited the website and it all looks wonderful. The ligurian pasta looks especially yummy and will try it as soon as I can. Glad to know a great new (to me) website to find these these things.. Hope I win the picnic basket too.

  12. Every kosher and most kosher bakeries make them…but Zabar’s is truly outstanding. What am I talking about? BLACK AND WHITE COOKIES!!!!!

  13. I love to make Sweedish Crepes with Loganberry Butter, making the Logenberry Preserves only one of my favorites. This is followed by their Rye Bread and Corned Beef.
