Every Friday, I take my favorite “picks” from my week on the web and post them here for you to enjoy. But before I announce my picks, here is a quick recap of this week’s posts on ToriAvey.com– just in case you missed them.

Cold, crisp, refreshing, and perfect for summer!
Learn to make Chocolate Icebox Pie from a vintage 1950’s recipe.
Are you as American as apple pie? Read about the history of pie
in America, then rock out to Don McLean.
TORI’S WEEKLY WEB PICKS
Here are some of my favorite picks from the web this week.
Honeydew and Watermelon Martinis? Sweet! The 4th has come and gone, but you can enjoy these creative martinis from Pass the Sushi all summer long!
I found Pink Basil’s blog through Tastespotting. This pasta makes me hungry just looking at it! For this sauce, she roasted the peppers… a girl after my own heart. 😉
Check out this gorgeous Tiramisu Ice Cream! I’m a new fan of the Diethood blog. Kate takes beautiful food photos, and her recipes are always fun and surprising.
This wonderful Bon Appetit article was shared by blog reader Susy on her blog, My Eclectic Favorites. The article really captures how I feel about the importance of writing down family recipes and preserving them for future generations.
I love this article by Michelle Green about community cookbooks. There is something so special about these old volumes, compiled lovingly by church or civic groups– when you open a book like this, you can feel the care that went into writing down the family recipes and sharing them with others. I collect community cookbooks, as well as antique and vintage cookbooks, because I feel so connected to recipes with history. Next time you hit a flea market or antique shop, browse through a few… you might be surprised
at the recipes you find!
Every week, I post the Twitter accounts that make me smile with their fun or interesting tweets. Here are this week’s picks…
…I have to give another shout-out to Kate for her lovely food blog and for being an expert on Macedonian cuisine (how cool is that??)
…my new pie-baking, food loving tweep. She has a beautiful food blog, and she’s a lawyer, and a mom– don’t ask me where she finds the time!
…because who doesn’t want a rockin’ fisherwoman on their Twitter list? 😉
