4th of July Recipe Roundup

I can hardly believe it, but 4th of July is already upon us. Time flies! Independence Day lands on a Friday this year and I’m guessing that most of our celebrations will be lasting through the weekend, which means we’ll need lots of tasty summer recipes to keep everybody full and happy. Below I’ve included some summery favorites that I’ll be serving up this year, in addition to a few fantastic recipe ideas from my food blogging friends.   1. Ribs, pasta salad, LOTS of fresh fruit, fruit juice for my grandson while the adults will have more beverages to choose from while we sit on the back patio and watch the fireworks display happening at the park.

  2. Tori, my mom made a dessert that she called Shaum Torte (at least that’s what it sounded like to me.) I never saw her recipe, but it looked something like that Pavlova. Have you ever heard Pavlova called anything else?

    1. Hi Valerie! A schaum torte is German in origin, while the pavlova is named for Russian prima ballerina Anna Pavlova. They are both meringue desserts and basically the same, with regional differences and toppings that vary from cook to cook. It’s a great idea for a gluten free dessert, or for Passover if you celebrate!
