Here are some of my favorite picks from the web this week.
Ilke is a Turkish girl cooking it up in the American south– cool, right? Her grandma’s recipe for authentic Turkish baklava made my mouth water! (warning – may cause sugar coma!) This is one of my favorite food blogs, I’m excited to share it with you!
I spotted these beautiful vegetarian Aubergines (eggplant) with Buttermilk Sauce on the Eat Little Bird blog. What a tasty and unique idea! Could be a fun option for Meatless Monday or a dairy Shavuot meal.
Those of you who are trying to lose weight (and who isn’t these days??) will love Kelly’s blog Eat Yourself Skinny. These panko-breaded Baked Mozzarella Bites look delicious, and they’re so easy to make. I can’t wait to try them! Kelly gives detailed calorie breakdowns for each recipe, so it’s easy to know how much you can indulge in without going overboard. Plus she’s totally adorable, and so is her Yorkie dog Oliver. What’s not to love?
To go along with Ilke’s Turkish baklava, Seth Kugel (love his name!), the New York Times “Frugal Traveler,” wrote a great post about pistachios, baklava, and other pistachio-laden treats in Southeastern Turkey.
This article on TheKitchn.com caught my eye. I’m in desperate need of spice reorganization. This might just be the perfect solution! Now if I could just find somebody handy to help me out with that… One of these days I’ll have to get into a DIY mood and get down and dirty with magnetic spice bottles!

The second comment came in from blog reader Esther on an older post called Marley Ate My Birthday Cake. I laughed so hard I choked on my drink.
After taking a home-made 7 lb Corned Beef out of the liquid and setting it far back on the counter, I had to pick the kids up at the pool. A 10 minute trip. Needless to say, the beef was gone, the 100 lb shepard/husky mix was found in the corner looking mighty uncomfortable and she went by the name “Corned Beef eating B—h!”
Naughty, naughty pup! But can you blame her? I mean, homemade corned beef! That’s some serious temptation.
