Love It!, By A Reader

Fun for kids and adults: I bought these so that my kids could start decorating cookies and cupcakes with me, and we love them! This is why:Pluses:1. The accordian like bottles help kids make great stars, leaves, dots, and more with ease.2. The bottles stand on their own (no need to find a place to lay the pastry bag down).3. They are easier than pastry bags because they don't continue to ooze out after they are squeezed and released.4. They are earth friendly. No throwing out any pastry bags.5. Cleaning the bottles is a breeze with a bottle brush.Negatives:1. Filling the bottles takes some time, but the little included spatula helps loads. (then again a pastry bag takes time too)2. Getting the accoridan bottles to dry takes time. I let mine dry out for almost 2 todays and I still had to get a towel out to dry every fold by hand before I could put them away.Nevertheless, these are great for baking and decirating. I...

don't buy these.the cylindrical ones crack if you squeeze too hard, which pretty much means my kidscan't use them because they don't understand physics vs. strength.both of mine cracked and leaked the first time i used them.also there wasn't an easy way to store all the tips and cuffs without keeping it all inthe cardboard box all the time.

I got these because I wanted something reusable and basic for decorating quickly and easily. Unfortunately, these bottles are WAY more frustrating to use than a pastry bag. First of all, they're not big enough to hold much frosting. The mouths of the bottles are too small, too - if you want to fill them with a thick frosting, you have to spoon the it into the bottles a little tiny bit at a time (and make a big mess), or use something bigger to funnel or squeeze the frosting into the bottles, something like...a pastry bag. They're also not heatproof, at all. I'd love to have some squeeze bottles made of silicone for decorating with chocolate, so that I could melt the chocolate directly in the bottle...but these can't take the heat. If they made these with silicone, a wider mouth, and at least one larger bottle in the set, they'd be great, but as is, they're not good for anything other than royal icing.
