Too small and light, April 20, 2011

These are way too small for the 10 liter crock unless you have it filled to the brim. They are also not very heavy. I had to add two jars filled with water. I think the 20 liter weights would work better. They are heavier and a bit wider. I just ordered a set.

Almost heavy enough?, June 11, 2011

I don't know what's to review. They fit the crock perfectly. Well until I used them, I didn't know just how much weight was required to keep 3+ dozen cucumbers submerged; just a bit more than these stone. Of course initially there is no fluid. After a day or so, it becomes necessary to add brine and seal the crock. But trying to get an inch of brine above the stone proved to float the pickles. I did fill it to capacity and I used whole cucumbers. I have since remedied the problem by poking them with a knife rather than a skewer and extending the initial brining by a few hours during which an additional bag of water was placed on top of the stone. This proved to extract enough fluid as not to need addition brine. Just removed the bag to find sufficient brine and sealed the crock. The less fluid also served to produce Great pickles!

This too big to fit in the Ohio Stoneware 1GC Crock 7-34/'x8-1/4' - 1 Gallon. This is being offered as a package, but can not fit inside the crock.
