As some of you may know, I occasionally contribute recipes to the Zabar’s website. I’m a huge fan of this classic New York gourmet market; I try to visit their bakery whenever I’m in Manhattan. Though Zabar’s now encompasses nearly an entire half block on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, the company has humble roots as simple purveyors of smoked fish. While the fish is still a big draw, customers can now choose from a selection of baked goods, gourmet cheese, custom roasted coffee, pick of the crop produce and a deli to die for. With the holiday season here and Zabar’s celebrating 80 years spent at 80th and Broadway, the timing couldn’t be better for sharing this amazing giveaway with all of you!
In honor of their anniversary, Zabar’s has generously contributed their beautiful Classic Gift Basket seen above, which is filled with some of their tastiest kosher treats. The basket includes Zabar’s cinnamon rugelach, Zabar’s black and white cookies, Zabar’s chocolate babka, Lazzaroni Amaretti cookies, Erica’s apricot raspberry rugelach, Zabar’s assorted hamantaschen, Zabar’s chocolate truffle filled apple, Zabar’s dark chocolate bar, Zabar’s berry nut mix, 1 lb. of Zabar’s Special Blend coffee and a Zabar’s mug.
This basket is one of their best sellers and is just one of many others from their fabulously curated gift basket selection. I highly recommend checking them out if you’re in need of gift ideas, or if you just feel like treating yourself! If you would like to sign up for Zabar’s exclusive emails and offers, click here.

CONTEST CLOSED. The winning comment was submitted by Amy Kargauer! Her comment was chosen via a numeric randomizer. Congratulations Amy!
Thanks for stopping by! I am fascinated by the story behind the food – why we eat what we eat, how the foods of different cultures have evolved, and how yesterday’s food can inspire us in the kitchen today. Read more...
